Few stories have held such power in our imaginations as the crossing of the Red Sea. It's the story of what God did; a salvation found not in the strength of Israel, the cunning leadership of Moses, or even the faith of the faithful. It was pure gift, even in the midst of doubts and complaints. Some viewed it as a miraculous intervention, others as a suicidal journey, but all were brought through and saved from Pharaoh’s hand on no account of their own. The only thing for the Israelites to do was to trust and to walk through. The same could not be more true for those seeking to follow God today.
