Provision in the Desert

No sooner had the great rescue taken place than people’s stomachs grumbled and their throats were parched—the harsh realities of the desert bore down upon them like the waters that drowned the Egyptians. We judge their complaints, but likely wouldn’t have made it half as far before voicing our disdain for this new life of freedom. However, God’s character is put on full display for His people - provisions rain down and burst forth, a current of undeserved grace that nourishes this broken people for their journey ahead. It is a display of generosity, but it was hardly a feast - God gives his people just enough for each day as He begins to shape them into the people He longs for them to be.
