God With Us

At the very centre of the camp, in the middle of God’s people, there was a tent. An ornate and impressive structure, considering it had to be constructed and deconstructed, carried and moved and re-constructed with regularity. The Tabernacle was the very place where YHWH lived among His people. Everyone knew where God was—a cloud towered over the tent by day and a pillar of fire by night. It was tangible manifestation of the Divine—as frightening as it was comforting. God was, is and will always be a God who dwells among His people. The manifestation of presence has changed, but the God who is with us has not.
