Creatures That Love

Following the resurrection, Jesus makes breakfast for his friends on the beach and Jesus has a heart-to-heart with Peter who recently denied knowing Jesus. But Jesus doesn’t ask Peter if he knows him, if he believes in him, if he trusts him - Jesus asks Peter if he loves him. Jesus wants what is fundamental to our very nature - our hearts. We are what we love. We are not purely rational or even primarily thinking creatures. We are creatures that desire, that want, that love—that is our nature. What do you love?
