The Great Lie

The Deceiver comes to Eve with a smirk, a sneer, a joke and a lie that casts doubt on what God commanded and invites her to see that more is possible. It was the original temptation - to usurp the place of God and become our own god. It called into question the goodness of God, convincing us we'd be better on our own in order to make our lives enjoyable and good.
