The Mysterious Magi

While it is unlikely that the Magi from the east were part of our nativity scene, their appearance in the story surprises and confuses. The Jerusalem elite (especially King Herod) were rattled by their prophetic quest and presence. And what a shock that wisdom, wealth and power were pursuing a child born to peasant parents. But those that paid attention to the stars, saw the sign that the heavens themselves pointed toward. Following that star became their life quest and cause. When we see that the baby born in Bethlehem is really the King of Kings and Lord of Lords—we too will naturally fall to our knees in worship, make following Him our life quest and redirect our wealth and resources for His cause.
