The Unlikely Shepherds

One of the greatest announcements ever to be made (second perhaps only to "He is Alive!") was first made to lowly, smelly, shepherds. We often carry an idealized version of the shepherd, but it was not a revered occupation, nor a respected group of people. And yet, they hold an enduring role in the unfolding story of Christ’s birth. The message of Jesus is for everyone, but the lowly capture God’s attention and God’s heart in special ways.
