An old catechism states that our chief end, our purpose, is to "glorify God and enjoy Him forever." Today, we live with the assumption that we are supreme, our own little deities, so we should glorify and enjoy ourselves. Simply put - Life is short! Do what you want! You only live once! But there's an alternative worldview that says that this life, our lives, are but a passing breath. That while we may only live once, we will live forever, and the choices made here and now will impact eternity.
