Chapter 5: The Builder & The King

Jesus tells two stories: one about a home-builder who must abandon a project because they ran out of money, and another about a King who goes to war before considering how large the enemy army is. The parable of the builder and the king invite us - challenge us - with the questions: Have we counted the cost of being a disciple? Have we looked ahead at what this choice holds for our lives, or have we become like the crowds? This parable invites us to count the cost, or what we’re willing to let following Jesus cost us.
