The beauty of the church serving one another and our hurting world is hard to rival. It's clearly a part of the calling God has given to us as His representative community on earth. But, beyond the calling, we serve and we long to serve because we live according to a different set of values. Luke’s account of the Sermon on the Mount contrasts the world’s values and God’s kingdom values. Our worldview is remarkably different—we live according to an upside down kingdom. This provides us radical freedom from the world’s metrics of success and strivings and makes serving a natural outpouring of God’s work in us.
