The Conscience Question

What tensions need to be considered? Not all decisions are straight-forward - often they're complex, multi-faceted, and nuanced. But we have a God-given, built-in helper - our conscience. When you feel tension about a decision, these red flag moments act as a cue to pay extra attention. If something bothers you, let it bother you. Something may not quite be right. That may be God’s Spirit at work. Paul acknowledges the freedom that the Corinthian Christians have in his letter to them, but he also challenges them to pay special attention to what actions could offend, lead others astray, and what doesn’t aid to their cause of doing all things to the glory to God. In complex decision making moments, don’t rule out how God’s Spirit can move through your conscience!
