This Very Day

"Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever." begins Psalm 118. The opening of this famous psalm sets the tone for what's to come - a psalm of praise to God. When asked, many of us would say that the purpose of praise is to worship God. And while that's true, have you ever considered that praise is also an act of resistance? In the midst of all the challenges we face in this life, praise is a declaration that things are not simply “the way they are”. Praise says that there is a reason to hope because God is doing a new thing - not only in the distant future, but this very day!
