Gentleness

One of the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5 is gentleness. God’s world, entrusted to our stewardship, cries out to be handled with care. The Lord has a dream for a better world. The Irish poet W.B. Yeats wrote, “I have spread my dreams under your feet; tread softly because you tread on my dreams.” The letter to the Galatians invites us to go gently - tread softly - as we interact with others. But first, we must learn to be gentle with ourselves, gratefully receiving the grace God extends to us.
