Living on the Vine

Before we explore the individual fruit of the spirit, we must first ask, where does such fruit come from? In John’s gospel, Jesus says, “I am the vine, and my Father is the gardener.” As the vine, Jesus is the source from which we produce fruit, so Jesus tells us, “remain in me.” How do we do that? We abide in Christ. Whether we’re conscious of it or not, we are all abiding in something. John Mark Comer says the question isn’t “are you abiding,” rather, “what are you abiding in.” We’ll explore what abiding in Christ looks like and why it is essential to life for a disciple/follower of Jesus.
