Lazarus

We've arrived at the culmination of Jesus' miracles - the raising of Lazarus. Being the seventh miracle, or as John identifies as a sign, we need to pay particular attention. Seven in Hebrew signals completeness, perfection and rest: seven days of creation, seven branches of the Menorah, the seventh day God rested. With this in mind, how do we understand this miracle? And how do we understand Jesus' actions: waiting until his friend is dead, weeping at the tomb, commanding a dead man to come forth?
