Jesus the Refugee

We often paint a rather cozy and idealistic picture of Jesus’ worldly entrance, but nothing could be further from the truth. His entrance into the world and first several years of life would firmly fit into the classification of refugee. He birth was likely now - the beginning of a season in the Middle East that can get quite cold! What was it like for Mary, Joseph and Jesus that first winter? If we bow down to a marginalized baby, if we claim to follow as Saviour “who had no place to rest His head,” we ought to at least consider the plight of the modern refugee. While the problem is so much bigger than what we can address, is there something we can do? How might God use the resourced church in North America to support the Lebanese Church as they show the love and compassion to God to Syrian refugees.
